[01] / ServicesWhat we do

Focused scope. Clear advice.

Clearly scoped appointments for data centres and other sites where power, capacity and resilience matter. Where there are options, we set them out side by side. Appoint us for a single survey, study, design or strategy.

01

Grid Supply & DNO

Supply applications, capacity and connection timescale assessments, connection offers and DNO liaison.

02

Power Distribution Strategy

HV and LV strategy, single line diagrams, resilience, and plant and cable sizing.

03

Feasibility & Capacity

Can the site take more load? Options, constraints and a recommended route, with cooling and heat rejection input from our mechanical partner.

04

Site Surveys & Reports

Records review, as-built verification, condition reports and resilience checks on existing installations.

05

Upgrade Design

Power for UPS, generator, switchgear and chiller upgrades: new supplies, cable routes and containment, phased around continuous operation.

06

Power System Studies

Load flow, short-circuit, arc flash studies and labels, and harmonics, on new designs and as-built systems, modelled in ETAP.

[02] / ProcessHow we work

A clear route, appointed stage by stage.

  1. Survey

We review the records and inspect the site, so you know what you have and how it actually performs.

OutcomeA survey report that establishes where the site stands today and, more importantly, where it can go next.

  2. Feasibility

We test capacity, constraints and options, then recommend a practical route forward, with programme advice.

OutcomeA feasibility report setting out the options, a clear recommendation and the programme.

  3. Strategy & brief

On the client side, we set the electrical strategy, write the brief and Employer’s Requirements, design upgrade works such as cable routes and containment, and review designers’ proposals.

OutcomeA written strategy and brief that designers and contractors can price and develop.

  4. Delivery

We issue clear, checked documents your team can act on.

OutcomeSchematics, reports, study output reports and designs.

Each stage can be appointed on its own.

[03] / Due diligenceBuying a site

Buying a site? Know the power first.

Before you commit, we establish how much power a site really has, what it will take to get more, and what that means for your offer. Recent work includes data centre sites in London, Surrey and Berlin.

01

Available capacity

What the existing supply and the local network can actually deliver.

02

Upgrade route

What the DNO is likely to require, and how long it will take.

03

Existing plant

The condition and remaining life of the infrastructure you would inherit.

04

Risk and programme

The technical risks and timescales that should shape your offer.

[05] / AboutWho you work with

You work directly with the engineer.

Matthew Mousa

Mousa Consultancy is led by Matthew Mousa, an electrical design consultant with more than 24 years’ experience in power distribution, on data centres and other projects across the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

His work covers grid supply planning and DNO applications, power distribution strategy, feasibility and power system studies, on sites from 1 MVA to campuses above 100 MVA.

Mechanical input, such as cooling and heat rejection, comes from an experienced data centre mechanical engineer, so you receive coordinated M&E advice through a single appointment.

Grid Supply & DNO

Surrey data centre campus, 2026. Working directly for the client, we secured an additional uplift on a constrained network, taking the site from 23 to 27 MVA across its two 11 kV supplies, and coordinated the DNO works through to completion. On a second building, we raised a supply from 2.4 to 4 MVA, giving N-1 resilience that was not possible before.

Power Distribution Strategy

Surrey data centre campus, 2026. Working directly for the client, we set the power distribution strategy for a 12 MW IT hall: sixteen 1 MVA UPS modules in four groups, each able to lose a module and still deliver its full output.

Feasibility & Capacity

Lewisham, London, 2026. A data centre reviewing the replacement of its ten 2.5 MVA DRUPS units, with new loads planned on three levels. We compared like-for-like replacement with static UPS and generators, and checked switchboard and riser capacity for the new loads.

Upgrade Design

Powering a plant upgrade without interrupting the site. For four new chillers on an existing site, each on its own complete electrical system, we size the new supply, design the cable route and containment, and phase the works around continuous operation.

Power System Studies

Load flow, short-circuit, arc flash and harmonic studies, modelled in ETAP for new designs and as-built installations, with clear reports and site-ready labels.

Voltage distortion at each board against the EREC G5/5 planning levels, from a study of an operational data centre.

Will drives, UPS and EC fans distort the supply?

We model the installation and assess voltage and current distortion against EREC G5/5 limits, at several load levels and on both mains and generator supply. On this site, the highest was 1.12 %, well inside the 5 % planning level.
